2025 Conn Smythe Trophy Odds

Player2025 Conn Smythe Trophy Odds
Connor Hellebuyck+1100
Nathan MacKinnon+1200
Connor McDavid+1400
Sebastian Aho+2000
Alex Ovechkin+2000
Leon Draisaitl+2200
Jack Eichel+2200
Cale Makar+2200
Nikita Kucherov+2200
Andrei Vasilevskiy+2200

Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has the best Conn Smythe odds for 2025 at +1100. He is closely followed by Nathan MacKinnon (+1200) and last year’s winner, Connor McDavid (+1400).

After the top three, the odds of winning the Conn Smythe become very clustered. Sebastian Aho and Alex Ovechkin are tied for the fourth-best odds at +2000.

Then, five players are tied at +2200 to win the playoff MVP. The players tied at 22-1 include Leon Draisaitl (EDM), Jack Eichel (VGK), Cale Makar (COL), Nikita Kucherov (TB), and Andrei Vasilevskiy (TB).

Conn Smythe Favorites to Watch

Betting on the NFL playoff MVP is one of the most thrilling ways to wager on the postseason. Here is a closer look at the top contenders for the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2025.

Connor Hellebuyck (+1100)

Veteran goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is the 11-1 favorite in the latest Conn Smythe odds. Hellebuyck is making his seventh playoff appearance with Winnipeg in his 10th season with the franchise.

The Jets earned the most wins, 56, and scored the most points, 116, of any team in the NHL this season. Hellebuyck started 62 games for Winnipeg, earning a career high 47 wins.

He also set career-bests in save percentage (.925%) and shutouts (8). Hellebuyck’s 12 losses were his fewest since the 2017-2018 season.

A key part of the Jets’ and Hellebuyck’s success was minimizing shot attempts for opponents. Hellebuyck’s 1,664 shots were the fewest he faced since the 2020-2021 season. If Winnipeg can continue to reduce the shots Hellebuyck faces, and he rises to the challenge as needed, the Jets could turn around their playoff struggles, and Hellebuyck could win his first Conn Smythe.

Nathan MacKinnon (+1200)

Another player looking for their first Conn Smythe is Nathan MacKinnon. The 12-year veteran won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022.

MacKinnon accounted for 13 goals and 11 assists in 20 games during Colorado’s championship run. However, he did not win the Conn Smythe that season. That honor went to MacKinnon’s teammate, Cale Makar, who racked up eight goals, 21 assists, and a game-winning goal against Nashville.

He was unable to overcome a historic season by Makar in 2022, but MacKinnon is a threat to win the Conn Smythe this year. MacKinnon led the Avalanche in goals, assists, and points this season. If that trend continues during a long-playoff run for Colorado, it will be MacKinnon, not Makar, who is taking home the Conn Smythe.

Connor McDavid (+1400)

Connor McDavid won the Conn Smythe last season, becoming the first player since Jean-Sebastien Giguere in 2003 to win the playoff MVP without winning the Stanley Cup. McDavid racked up eight goals and 34 assists in his 25 playoff games last season for the Oilers.

Despite McDavid’s best efforts, Edmonton lost in seven games to the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals. Three of Edmonton’s four playoff series also lasted at least six games, which gave McDavid plenty of chances to pad his stats.

McDavid cannot hope to win the Conn Smythe again this year without taking home the Stanley Cup. The good news for McDavid and company is that they are on the opposite side of the Western bracket from Colorado and Winnipeg. So, if the Oilers can get past the Kings and the Knights, they only must take on either the Avalanche or the Jets, not both.

Alex Ovechkin (+2000)

Alex Ovechkin made history this season by breaking Wayne Gretzky’s regular-season goals record. Ovi could make history again this year by winning his second Conn Smythe award. Ovechkin won the playoff MVP in 2018 when he led the Capitals to the championship.

Here is a look at Ovi’s stats from his 2018 Conn Smythe-winning playoff run:

  • Games played: 24
  • Goals: 15
  • Assists: 12
  • Points: 27
  • Power play goals: 6
  • Power play assists: 5
  • Game-winning goals: 2

Washington faces a tough road in the playoffs. The Capitals have an opening-round matchup with Montreal and will likely face the Hurricanes, one of the Stanley Cup favorites, in the second round.

Cale Makar (+2200)

Cale Makar is one of five players tied at 22-1 odds to win the Conn Smythe award this season. As mentioned above, Makar won the award in 2022 when he and MacKinnon led the Avalanche to their third Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Makar set a record in 2022 for the most points scored by a defenseman, 10, in their first four games of a postseason. He scored 29 total points in 20 games during the Avalanche’s championship run. In his 18 postseason games since, Makar has totaled 21 points, including one assist in Colorado’s Game 1 win over Dallas this year.

Makar must return to his 2022 playoff form to win a second Conn Smythe. Suppose Makar can surpass MacKinnon by leading Colorado in goals and assists again. In that case, he will win another playoff MVP, and the Avalanche will live up to their odds as title favorites.

Betting Tips for NHL Conn Smythe Odds

Before I give my 2025 Conn Smythe predictions, here are three tips to consider when betting on this NHL future.

Importance of Position

Any player in the postseason is eligible for the Conn Smythe Award. However, the award typically goes to centers and goalies.

Of the 47 players who have won playoff MVP honors, 20 have been centers and 17 have been goalies. Conversely, only two left wings, Bob Gainey (1979) and Alexander Ovechkin (2018), have won the award. Also, there have only been seven players who have won the award multiple times.

Voters Favor Stanley Cup Champions

Another factor to keep in mind for NHL playoff MVP betting is that the voters favor players who make a deep run in the postseason. The deeper your team goes into the playoffs, the more chances you have to rack up stats.

Only six players have won the Conn Smythe without also winning the Stanley Cup. No player has won the award without at least making it to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Understanding this trend can give bettors a significant advantage over other NHL fans. Your playoff MVP prediction should at least align with your Western or Eastern Conference winner, if not your Stanley Cup Finals winner.

Shop for the Best Odds for Your Prediction

Once you have decided on your Conn Smythe betting prediction, you should shop for the best odds for your pick. Take Ovi, for instance, who is listed at +2000 odds at BetOnline to win his second Conn Smythe. BetUS, on the other hand, has Ovechkin available at +3000.

So, if you are betting on Ovi to become a two-time playoff MVP, then BetUS offers the better value. Jake Eichel, conversely, is listed at 22-1 at BetOnline and 20-1 at BetUS, so Eichel bettors should stick with BetOnline.

2025 Conn Smythe Betting Predictions

The NHL playoffs are underway, and 16 teams are battling for the right to hoist the Stanley Cup. In addition to chasing team glory, players can cement their own legacy by winning the playoff MVP: the Conn Smythe Trophy.

There are multiple great options, but I am picking Nathan MacKinnon to win the Conn Smythe award this year. Colorado is a top contender in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs. Also, if not for a record-setting performance from Cale Makar in 2022, MacKinnon would have already won this award.

  • Prediction: Nathan MacKinnon +1200

Final Thoughts on Conn Smythe Odds 2024–2025

Connor Hellebuyck (+1100) is the favorite in the 2025 Conn Smythe odds to start this year’s playoffs. However, I think that Nathan MacKinnon (+1200) is the better option to win the playoff MVP this season. Check out the guide above for a closer look at all the top contenders for the award this season.
